I think I just gave the best speech of my life. I was incredibly nervous beforehand. Why, besides the usual jitters? Well, because the person before me was talking about the same topic (petroleum, gasoline, blah blah), only proposing a policy completely opposite of mine. It gave me the freak-out, in the words of Rowan Atkinson. Ryan was like "let's drill for more oil". I'm like "let's raise taxes on gas, and spend the generated money on developing and streamlining alternative fuels, and use excess or unused money for tax incentives to people who buy fuel efficient cars." ah! Actually, his argument was a lot more intelligent than I'm letting on; I just kindof dozed off. . . jk. Everyone that went today did a good job. I resolutely wore a bright colored shirt ( plus a skirt and nice sandals, for the dressup effect). It's supposed to help people focus on you if you're well-dressed, and wearing bright colors. This girl in my class said that my speech was the only one that she listened to, and I nearly died with happiness. I don't think my speech instructor would have the same opinion. .. sometimes I get the feeling that he doesn't like me. I got an english paper back; my instructor thinks that I write melodramatically. Oh well. It was a dry research paper! I had to spice it up!! That thunderstorm last night was really cool. Lightning is possibly one of the coolest things on the planet. It would have been ever awesomer if I wasn't trying to sleep. But hey, you can't have everything. It was cool.
